Regensburg, 2007
Old world charm best describes Regensburg for me. It is one more city built at the river’s edge and on a hill. The city is so old—in fact it dates back to the Stone Age—that architects would die before they finished a building and a new architect would take over using an entirely different style. Ancient Roman ruins can still be found on some city streets.
Pastry shops, bicycles, barrel-vaulted ceilings, cobblestone streets so close together that only tiny cars can use them, and large, ornate wooden doors adorn these streets and are still intact after World War Two.
