China
While in Beijing, I visited the Great Wall of China. What an amazing structure! There were areas of the wall that formed steps with a nearly 18-inch-high rise and a 4-inch step. I walked the wall for several miles; what a workout! Artisans sold their art at different places on the wall, while others badgered us tourists to buy whatever they were selling. We found several small children who were begging. Later we were told that these children are instructed by their parents to beg, and some even wore fake limbs to give the impression of a grave illness and need.
I visited the Summer Palace and the Forbidden Palace, both with their very colorfully painted buildings. Many natives danced and played music as I entered the Temple of Heaven.
At night I ventured out to the street markets, where I tasted lamb penis and testicles.
