Underwater Images
When vacationing in Hawaii I learned how to scuba dive. Using three crude throwaway cameras I went down 30 feet to explore the landscape of the underwater. I was very nervous until I got to the bottom, when my attention was turned toward this underworld. With the sound of the oxygen tank and my breathing I floated along looking at shells and turtles and coral. I was fascinated by this experience but the depths made it dark and the demands of flash photography exhausted the camera’s batteries in no time.
I switched my interests to snorkeling and found that the shallower depths and reefs housed the most beautiful colored fish. After I returned home I bought a small digital camera that had an underwater case. Below are some images that I shot using that camera.
While vacationing in the Caribbean I started to shoot the waves with my underwater camera. The water is so clear that getting details is a real possibility. I also shot videos of the waves as they crashed onto the shore. Those videos can be seen in the video section of my Web site. I merged some of these images together in a Photoshop project that can be seen on this page.
